Underground installation methods place fiber below the surface, typically by trenching, plowing, or boring. Trenching digs a trench, lays conduit or cable, then backfills. Plowing pulls the cable into a shallow, quickly buried channel with minimal surface disruption. Bore, or HDD, borrows under obstacles like roads or waterways to install cable with a conduit. Aerial installation, by contrast, runs along utility poles above ground. Since it isn’t buried, it’s not one of the underground methods. The option that doesn’t fit underground installation is the overhead, aerial method.
